June 4th – A spin around Brownhills in the rain. I had errands to run, and I took a shortcut under the loading bay of the old Tesco at Ravens Court. There, no doubt pushed off the back of a truck under the cover of the fences and scrub, the carcasses of two scrap fridges.

The plague continues. The old appliances have been stripped of any metal with commercial value, and that will be kept by the tatters and weighed in for cash. The remnants are just flytipped anywhere they can offload them.

There is no defence of this; it’s what happens when recycling legislation is thoughtlessly altered, but the people doing this are scum. They don’t care for anything but the cash, and everyone who leaves old appliances out for the scrap men to collect is as guilty as those who dump the remains.

Stop leaving stuff for tatters and get your waste disposed of properly, because we all up up paying if you don’t.

March 2nd – Meanwhile, over in the layby at Coppice Lane, the flytippers had been busy. There must be 20 or 30 bags here – none were open, so I have no idea what was in them, but it looks like domestic refuse – all dropped in a pile, clearly from a van or truck.

The people that do this are criminals, and scum beneath contempt. If you know who did this, please dob them in to the Council or cops.

This stuff can present a health hazard and costs a fortune to deal with. Civilised humans don’t flytip.

March 6th – I was very angry about this. Over the last week or so, I’ve watched workers from the council clear up the Kings Hill end of Victoria Park in Darlaston. They cut back the trees and scrub, swept all round and even pulled all the rubbish out of the marsh. It looked better than I’ve seen it for years. What do I find this morning? A fly-tipped armchair. What kind of selfish tossers do this? I hope their balls drop off, I really do. Those guys worked hard for the benefit of your community and this is how you repay them. You’re nothing but scum.

August 14th –  If you’re the publisher of the Sutton Coldfield Observer, it looks like one of your delivery agents has been ripping you off. Several bundles of your paper – unopened, and fresh from the print works – have been dumped on a grass verge near the M6 Toll bridge at Camp Road, Canwell. They date from April, and one can only assume that the person who was paid to distribute them dumped them and pocketed the cash.

June 25th – Nipping into Walsall early afternoon, I returned on the cycle track down the Goscote Valley. Leaving the Butts at Mill Lane, I spotted this flytipping. Clearly thrown or tipped from the back of a truck, it would have fitted in a domestic dustbin. There is nothing anyone can do about this opportunistic, heartless vandalism: such a crime is over before it starts, and blights us all.

Some people are scum, and that’s all there is to it. I just pity the poor folks charged with cleaning it up.
