September 14th – the overcast nature of the early evening continued through the journey home. Here, at Summerhill, the skies had cleared, but at 7pm the light was already dying. Another harbinger of autumn. At least it’s still warm.

May 31st – The weather really settled down today, and summer is definitely on the return. The air was chilly at 6:30AM in Four Oaks, but the light was gorgeous and the wind had died right down. I stopped to admire the architecture of this house in Lichfield Road, which I’ve passed many times. Is this stunning, or what?

May 6th – conversely, this handsome house has recently been beautifully renovated. Standing at the other end of Springhill, at the very crest itself, The Willows has a surprising and proud history.
This sensitively restored building was once The Red, White and Blue pub, and latterly a plant nursery. It’s a bit sad that the current name doesn’t hint at the extensive history of a lovely building.
May 4th – Morning commute to Sutton, and another great example of inconsiderate, dangerous and stupid driving; this time it’s on the A5127 Lichfield Road in Mere Green, just at the junctions of Harland Road and Holly Lane. This is a shamefully poor piece of road use for which there can be little excuse. Yet again I find myself cut up in a posh area. What gives?

April 21st – Springhill, near Stonnall, as seen from Summerhill, further along the A461 to the Northeast. Returning from Lichfield, fully loaded with shopping, it was a nice leisurely pootle back home in the evening sun.

April 13th – The fields at Lanes Farm (or Home Farm) have been ploughed and planted now. Looking over from the Lichfield Road, I noticed the spire of Brownhills Church was clearly visible.
