
June 5th – After a spin round Elford and back to Alrewas, the rain started on the way back through Fradley. Crossing the canal at Gorse Lane, the day was grey and chilly, but at least the wind was behind me. What happened to the heatwave?

May 23rd – A dismal, dark, windblown day. Nearly an hour to get into Darlaston due to the relentless headwind. At Station Street, the former GKN works (now Caparo) loomed ominously over the town. There have been better cycling days. At least the rain held off until the wind was behind me.

April 13th – It felt like winter returned today. Although the signs of spring were still all around – green shoots, songbirds flitting in and out of the hedges – the sky was dark and threatening. Here at Fighting Cocks Farm, between Stonnall and Springhill, it started to spot with rain.
