August 7th – Perry Barr, where even the local cat population displays attitude. Never had a cat bob its tongue out at me before, the cheeky little devil…

July 19th – Contempt. Utter, utter contempt. This resident of Longwood Basin doesn’t approve.

July 5th – A glorious, sunny and hot exploration of Ironbridge, followed by a wonderful ride home.
How, exactly, does one raise a pork pie? Is it like raising kids?
It’s right what they say about road cyclists eating pies, then… nice bike, though.

April 7th – He wasn’t cross with me, the cat in the driveway at Hammerwich. He was just very, very disappointed with me.
It’s hard to look superior with fold ears, but this chap manages it.
March 10th – I do like to see folk getting stuck into their food. This chap, clearly immersed in the dining experience, is one of the Chasewater cattle, today fed with hay in a stall. He seems to have used his horns to break the bale open, and become somewhat entangled. I bet that thatch is quite warming.
A bit like me and spaghetti. We never went back to that restaurant…
January 19th – Out on Cannock Chase, with plenty of pictures on the main blog – but something in the current patch of cold weather is really making me smile: the art of snowman making is returning. Never used to see good ones when I was a kid. Nowadays, folks are getting creative. The little fella was sat at the side of the track down Abraham’s Valley in the middle of nowhere on the Chase. He was perfect. I loved him.
Meanwhile, at Seven Springs, another was taking a breather on a picnic table. Shame about the leg. Let’s hope the government disability assessors don’t spot him loafing with that missing leg, or they’ll have him working for free in Tesco within the week…
Seriously, loving the wit of it.

November 6th – I was cycling through Little Aston, as you do. I stopped to adjust my scarf… looked my my left and there it was, screwed to the wall of Little Latches Cottage. The English sense of humour is remarkable, warm and silly. I have nothing further to add…

June 25th – Had to smile at this graffiti on a canal side wall in central Walsall today. Just by Bridgman Street bridge, it did seem oddly amusing. The hand looks familiar. Wonder who the wag is?
February 19th – Alongside the Chasetown bypass, this bit of urban wit. The ‘Alison, will you marry me?’ sign has been there for weeks, but the conversation has grown in recent days. I love this stuff. Wonder if Alison really did say yes?

August 27th – There are things in life that you only really notice when walking or riding a bike. This mailbox stands in the driveway to a house in the hamlet of Edial, near Burntwood, and for some reason it makes me grin every time I see it. I think it’s the wee satellite dish on the chimney – whoever made this had a sense of humour.
