#365daysofbiking Thank you Gordon

April 2nd – One of the delights of Walsall Borough in springtime is the huge amount of daffodils on verges, in parks and other open spaces, like here on the corner of Four Crosses and Lichfield roads in Sheffield.

They are a credit to Gordon Kinnair at the council, sadly no longer with us, who was responsible for their planting.

April 29th – I held back all day, hoping to avoid the wind and rain. Sneaking out late, the rain stopped and the cloud fractured. I headed for Chasewater, and I noticed this damp mum and daughter in a field adjacent to the old Highfield House on Pool Road. The hardiness of horses never ceases to amaze me, and this frisky little foal was joyous. As Mike Hawes pointed out on his tumblr over the weekend, spring is really here now.

June 8th – A trip into the Black Country is always a fine excuse to hit the Tame Valley Canal. A lovely, historic run through cuttings and over high aqueducts takes in the best, and the worst, of the area. Today the canal was busy with boats heading north to the Pelsall Canal Festival and a benevolent wind blew me from west to east. Here at Ray Hall, crossing the motorway is always a cause for amusement. Good evening, lemmings…
